With a unique voice and thought-provoking lyrics, Justine Eltakchi is Australia’s old soul. Since her debut EP release “Autumn Love”, Justine has been working on a full album expected to be released in 2013.
Growing up in the beautiful Blue Mountains, Justine was inspired to learn instruments, such as the guitar and piano, from a young age. With musical blood running through her veins, Justine spent several years collaborating with her brother Phillip Eltakchi while completing a Bachelor of Music at the University of Western Sydney.
Justine has been gigging since she was just 16 years old, and has spent the last 6 years heavily involved in the cultural arts. She devotes her time to collaborating with world music artists and making the most of multiple musical opportunities. In 2010 Justine was a guest performer at the Biella Festival in North Italy where she sung with Italian folk singer Giulia Tripoti. Justine has also collaborated with African artists Scrim and AfroMoses, as well as Hip-hop crew 1NFO, to name a few.
Upon returning to Sydney, Justine saw the opportunity to write a full album while also writing and mentoring for Signacion Music, an Australian music label. Justine says she draws her inspiration to write from “observing the humanness and inconsistency of herself, others and the world we live in.”
Amidst the process of recording her full album, Justine said “I am really excited to see how I have evolved as an artist and an individual since my EP. I feel my songs have become more complex, yet more relatable compared to how my work from 3 or 4 years ago.”
